Mandatory Harassment and Discrimination Prevention Training

The mandatory harassment and discrimination prevention training referenced in the email below applies to all USC System employees, including USC Aiken.  You will need to complete this training, even if you have attended the training offered here on campus within the last year.  You do not usually have to receive training twice in one year, but this is a one-time instance to make sure everyone has the same information, and that we have an online record of your completion of this training.     

I have completed this training myself, and while it is lengthy, it provides excellent in-depth material/information that can protect you as well as the University.  You can complete the training over several weeks.  It will save your progress, and you can continue where you left off.  You have until December 15th to complete the training.   As indicated below, you should be receiving (or have already received) an email with the link to participate from Everfi (see below).  Some employees have had trouble logging into the training session. Columbia is aware of the issue, and it should be corrected in the next day or two.  If this has happened to you, you should be receiving a new invitation in the next day or so allowing you to log in.

Next Monday (Oct. 8), you will receive a link to participate in mandatory Harassment and Discrimination Prevention Training.

The training, sponsored by the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs, fulfills a commitment to educate all USC faculty and staff about issues related to Title IX, which prohibits sex discrimination in education programs or activities that receive federal funding. The Carolinian Creed also calls us to model the behaviors that we expect from our students. Therefore, we must stay informed about diversity, equality, discrimination, human relations and social justice.

 Training details:

  • You will receive a link via email to access the mandatory online training module. The link will also be available on the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs website.
  • In addition to the mandatory Harassment and Discrimination Prevention Training module, two optional training modules, regarding diversity and the Clery Act, are also available which you are encouraged to review.
  • Estimates vary; however, the mandatory training may take 2 to 4 hours (and may be completed by employees in as many sessions and time slots that accommodate their schedules).
  • Deadline for completion is December 15, 2018.

You have been assigned training by the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs, University of South Carolina.

We are pleased to announce that the University of South Carolina is offering  a  series  of  training opportunities to better educate members of  the Carolina community about addressing unlawful forms of discrimination and harassment.

The training is designed to provide faculty and staff with information regarding university anti-discrimination and harassment policies and procedures, diversity and inclusion, state and federal anti­-discrimination laws, and the specific mandatory reporting requirements.  All University of South Carolina faculty and staff are required to complete one mandatory training course and are encouraged to complete two additional recommended courses. All employees are required to complete the mandatory training by 5:00 p.m. on December 15, 2018.  At the end of each course, you will be able to print a certificate. Please save the certificate as proof of your completion.

Courses include:

  1. Harassment and Discrimination Prevention, including Title IX training. (Electronic Course) MANDATORY
  2. Diversity and Inclusion (Electronic Course)
  3. Clery Act Basics (Electronic Course)
